FCDO & KP Govt Take Major Step to Boost Foundational Learning, James

British Council, FCDO & KP Govt Launch ILMpact to Educate 80,000 Children

Peshawar :  – The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the British Council launched ILMpact, a flagship education programme designed to address deep-rooted educational challenges in some of the most disadvantaged regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The programme will focus on areas where access to quality education is severely limited due to poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and entrenched social and cultural barriers, especially for girls, out-of-school children, minorities, and children with disabilities.

The Programme aims to provide quality learning opportunities to over 80,000 marginalized children in underserved communities, through emphasis on early childhood education, teacher training, gender equity, and inclusive education practices to improve learning outcomes and support the reintegration of out-of-school children.

James Hampson, Country Director, the British Council in Pakistan said: “ILMpact, is laying the foundations for a future where every child, regardless of their background, has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed. This programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and delivered in close partnership with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is a big step towards strengthening foundational learning and reshaping the education landscape across the province.”

Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said: “We in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have always believed that education is the corner stone for the development of our people and the ILMpact programme reflects our unwavering commitment to building a future where every child in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regardless of geography, gender, or socio-economic background, is learning and thriving in school.”

The launch of ILMpact marks a critical step toward bridging education gaps and ensuring that no child is left behind. With a collective commitment from the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the British Council, FCDO, and civil society partners, the programme aspires to create lasting, systemic change. By focusing on foundational learning, inclusion, and equity, ILMpact offers a replicable model for transforming education systems and unlocking the full potential of every child—regardless of their background or circumstances.
