Pak-Qatar leaders agreed on need to further deepen parliamentary cooperation

Meeting between Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan and Hassan Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar

Geneva :  Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan and Hassan Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar, held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historically fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for peace and development. Both sides discscused issues of mutual interests encompassing political, economic, parliamentary, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Chairman of the Senate highlighted the significance of close collaboration in tackling global challenges and commended Qatar’s role in this effort.. He also emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration on international parliamentary platforms, including the IPU, to advocate for the peaceful resolution of conflicts, uphold international law, and promote inclusive development.
Both leaders agreed on the need to further deepen parliamentary cooperation through regular exchanges and visists of Parliamentary Friendship Group. The Chairman of the Senate also extended an invitation to Hassan Al-Ghanim for the Speakers Conference, scheduled to be held in Pakistan from November 11-12, 2025. Al-Ghanim graciously accepted the invitation and reiterated his support for the successful organization of the conference.
The meeting concluded in a spirit of friendship and mutual goodwill, with both sides pledging to carry forward the momentum of bilateral engagements through enhanced dialogue and cooperation at all levels.
