UK-Pakistan Trade Dialogue Mechanism launched in London

London: Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, led Pakistan’s delegation at the formal launch of the UK–Pakistan Trade
Dialogue Mechanism in London.
The UK side was headed by The Right Hon. Douglas Alexander MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade. High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal was also present.

The Dialogue establishes a dedicated institutional framework to enhance trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging this platform for identifying market opportunities, removing trade barriers, and fostering sectoral collaboration.

During the session, the Pakistani delegation highlighted the country’s growing export capabilities, particularly in high-value sectors such as IT, renewable energy, agri-tech, and pharmaceuticals. The UK side acknowledged Pakistan’s potential as a key trade partner and expressed interest in expanding commercial linkages under the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS).

With the adoption of comprehensive Terms of Reference, the Dialogue sets the stage for structured engagement through joint working groups and periodic reviews. Discussions emphasized collaboration in priority areas including digital trade, sustainable supply chains, and institutional linkages.

The launch of the UK–Pakistan Trade and Investment Dialogue represents a shared vision for a dynamic and mutually beneficial economic partnership. It is expected to drive increased trade volumes, job creation, and long-term development for both nations.
