ISLAMABAD : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Syed Kausar Abbas Executive Director of the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) stated that climate change is no longer merely an environmental issue but a serious threat to Pakistan’s national security, public health and economic development.
Abbas noted that Pakistan remains among the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. He stated that over the past years, the country has experienced record heatwaves, unpredictable rainfall, severe flooding and prolonged droughts. Addressing this crisis requires a collective response from the government, civil society, media and the public.
He added that SSDO, through its Climate Optics platform is actively engaged in raising environmental awareness, promoting green policies and mobilizing youth and children across the country to take practical action against climate change.
Syed Kausar Abbas emphasized that the need of the hour is to reduce plastic consumption, encourage tree plantation and adopt environmentally friendly lifestyles so that we can ensure a clean and safe Pakistan for future generations.
