Islamabad : Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Member of the National Assembly and Convenor of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR), has issued a strong statement condemning the tragic death of four-year-old Muhammad Ali, who fell into an open manhole on Jamshed Road, Karachi.
“This heartbreaking incident is a glaring example of gross negligence by civic authorities and underscores the urgent need to prioritize public safety—especially for our children,” stated Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan.
“On behalf of the PCCR, I express our deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the grieving family and the local community. Their pain and protest must be acknowledged and addressed. We demand swift accountability and immediate measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.”
Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan also commended MPA Muhammad Amir Siddiqui for his timely support to the bereaved family and his efforts in ensuring the registration of the FIR. “His presence and dedication have been sincerely appreciated by the community,” she added.
Highlighting the broader issue, Convenor PCCR said, “Karachi’s continued infrastructural decay is costing innocent lives. As public representatives, we must act with urgency and responsibility to protect our children. I call upon the Mayor of Karachi and the Sindh Government to address this matter without delay.”
“A child’s life is a sacred trust—not a statistic. Let this be a wake-up call for all of us.”
