
Meeting Between Convener of Pakistan–Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group and Honorary Consul General of Lithuania
Islamabad; A meeting was held at the Parliament House, between Dr. Shahida Rehmani, MNA/ Convener of the Pakistan–Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), and the Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Pakistan.
The discussion centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on education, innovation, and parliamentary engagement.
Dr. Rehmani welcomed the Honorary Consul General and acknowledged Lithuania’s forward-looking policies, particularly in the areas of gender inclusion and academic development. She expressed confidence that such engagements would contribute to deepening mutual understanding and fostering long-term collaboration between the two nations.
The Honorary Consul General highlighted Lithuania’s notable advancements in biotechnology, fintech, and nanotechnology, along with the country’s strong emphasis on higher education and innovation. He underscored Lithuania’s high global ranking in the graduate-to-population ratio and expressed keen interest in establishing academic and professional linkages with Pakistan. He also noted the significant growth of Lithuania’s information technology sector and emphasized opportunities for Pakistani professionals to benefit from Lithuania’s expertise.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts, promoting student exchange programs, and encouraging institutional collaboration between academic and research institutions of the two countries.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing bilateral ties and exploring structured mechanisms to support sustained cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
