Islamabad: The first-ever meeting of the Advisory Council of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) was convened at the National Assembly, Parliament of Pakistan. The meeting was attended by esteemed members of the PCCR Advisory Council including MNAs Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, Ms. Zeb Jaffar, Syeda Shehla Raza, and special invitee Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, MNA.

A key decision taken during the session was the nomination of provincial and regional focal persons to strengthen outreach and coordination. The designated focal persons are: Dr. Amjad Khan and Ms. Shaista Khan Jadoon for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Ms. Saba Sadiq for Punjab; Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro for Sindh; Ms. Kiran Imran Dar for Azad Jammu & Kashmir; Ms. Kiran Haider and Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani for Balochistan; Syed Ali Qasim Gillani for Gilgit-Baltistan; and Daniyal Chaudhry, Ms. Zeb Jaffar, and Syed Ali Qasim Gillani for Islamabad Capital Territory.

The Council expressed appreciation for the Child Enrolment Program in Punjab, recognizing it as a significant step toward improving educational access and child welfare. Members also discussed upcoming PCCR initiatives, including the Young Citizens Internship Program 2025, which aims to engage youth in the parliamentary process and civic education.

The Council strongly condemned the recent unprovoked attacks by Indian forces, which tragically claimed the lives of seven innocent children between the ages of 3 and 8 years. The Advisory Council extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and called for international accountability for violations of children’s rights and international humanitarian law.

The PCCR remains committed to protecting and promoting the rights of children across Pakistan, and ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, just, and nurturing environment.
