Pakistan has called on the international community to develop a concrete plan for Gaza’s reconstruction in line with UN Security Council resolutions. Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized the need for accountability for Israeli actions during the conflict, labeling it crucial for restoring international legitimacy.
Welcoming the Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners facilitated by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution grounded in the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions. The spokesperson condemned Israel’s recent raid on the Jenin refugee camp, which killed 10 Palestinians, warning such actions could jeopardize the ceasefire.
In other updates, Khan highlighted a tragic boat capsizing off Morocco’s coast involving Pakistani nationals. The Pakistani embassy in Morocco is assisting survivors and coordinating with authorities to identify others involved.
Under its “Look Africa” policy, Pakistan is strengthening ties with African nations. Additional Foreign Secretary for Africa, Hamid Asghar Khan, has conducted bilateral consultations in Djibouti, Rwanda, and Uganda, with agreements signed for annual discussions. Negotiations with Rwanda include a Preferential Trade Agreement covering defense, education, and IT.
Additionally, Pakistan hosted the 11th Bilateral Political Consultations with the Netherlands, addressing trade, climate change, and water management. Pakistan-Azerbaijan talks in Islamabad are focusing on trade, energy, IT, and education collaborations.
